Thanks to D-A-L ComputerHelp for posting this most helpful article on "Safe Computing".
I note however that the article was last edited on 7/29/09, about a year ago now.
May I ask whether Digerati has further updated the article so that we newbies can refer to and rely on his latest edited article for guidance? If yes, please post the link to his article for download and save for reference. TNX again.

You are right Jon - this is now somewhat outdated and I have been remiss in keeping it updated, especially with the release of Windows 7. I have been pretty busy with some serious family matters over the last 3 - 4 years that all came to a head in the last 6 - 8 months that I have allowed to distract me. That's not meant as an excuse, but an explanation - though really it is just a weak rationalization for being lazy.
I have been meaning to update it for awhile now, but due to the changing nature of security, the exploding growth of "fake anti-malware" programs, and the release and success of Win7, it will be a major re-write, and hopefully much smaller - and I just needed a kick in the butt to get going on it - and you administered it - so, expect something in the next few days.

Thank you very much Digerati.
I look eagerly forward to read your updated/revised Guide on "Praticing Safe Computing".
Appreciate your prompt attention to my humble observation and request.

After long delays
there is finally an updated version of this sticky that includes many, though perhaps subtle changes. It was updated for Windows 7 which some previously recommended products do not support. Also, if a product does not support a 64-bit version, it too was removed. Other minor changes were made too. The new version is now located here. Sorry for taking so long. Thanks for your patience.
