hi
i need to copy and paste files .
the problem is when i copy a file from any where it is copyed to the clipboard when i get the clipboard up my file i copyed is there but it will not let me paste it any where ,the clipboard has been disabled by microsoft so you cant cut/copy/paste : all you can do with it is (delete file) .
so what can i do to do ,i have tryed (note pad )thats no good ,because no matter what i click on to copy it just go to the windows clipboard ,so i am wasteing my time because it just will not work and thats it.
can you help me and why has microsoft done this .

I wonder exactly what you are trying to do. Sorry for the confusion.

If you click and highlight text then right click and copy or Ctrl + C

Then open a notepad or a reply here at DAL you cannot Ctrl + V paste?

Just trying to understand what appears to be the issue and what it is you are exactly trying to do. Again I apologize for my confusion.

The clipboard is basically a simple Copy/Paste tool. It does nothing else. It has no history. It does not move files.

If you can Copy Ctrl+C then Paste Ctrl+V into any blank box then your clipboard is working. That is all the clipboard does.

As per your last thread the ClipBook Viewer has very little to do with the clipboard other than if it is enabled you can copy/paste across your network. This is a network tool. In XP SP2 it is by Default Disabled.

like i have said the clipboard will not let me highlight the text so i can paste do yo understand ,please understand what i am saying

Now you are saying the highlight function does not work? Is that correct?

If you click on this line and move the mouse the line is not highlighted?

well done yes your wight i cant highlight anything i copy to clipboard its or been disabled from doing cut copy paste ,like i say all you can do is delete what i have copyed

Once you copy to the clipboard there is nothing to highlight. You can paste what you copied. That is all the clipboard does. If you are talking about the ClipBook viewer then as mentioned it is disabled by default in XP SP2. You can enable in under Services if you want.

If you are opening the ClipBook Viewer then trying to copy/paste from there that is a totally different issue. As mentioned the ClipBook Viewer is disabled by Default in XP SP2.

I am just not sure if you are referring to the clipboard or the ClipBook Viewer.

no i cant paste that sentence here ,i can highlight the sentence but the paste is in gray so can not paste, and yes it is the clipbook viewer with cilpboard where when i want to copy something that is where it is copyed to ,

The ClipBook Viewer is Disabled by Default in XP SP2.

You can see it but you cannot use it. In order to Enable it you need to do so in Services plus you need to turn on several dependencies which are all Network related as this is a Network Tool.


Just to clarify your current issue please forget about the ClipBook Viewer and clpbrd.exe. Don't go there. It really has nothing to do with your clipboard.


Now with the clipboard if you highlight a sentence here you have the option to Copy. Paste is greyed out because you have nothing to Paste. Once you Copy something then go to a blank box or Notepad or whatever you have the option to Paste.

Again these operations can also be done with the key combinations:

Ctrl C Copy Ctrl V Paste.

Maybe I can add to the confusion - I mean maybe I can help determine the problem, then we can go from there. First, pick a word, any word from this sentence and double click on it - does it highlight? Remember, just because something is highlighted, that does not mean it has been copied. Highlight only means it has been "selected" and Windows is waiting for you to tell it what to do next.

If it is highlighted, then copy it into the clipboard only this time, right click on the highlighted word and select "Copy" from the menu. Then move your mouse arrow down to the Quick Reply box, right-click once in the middle of the box to move to cursor down there, and to bring up the right context menu, select Paste and see if your word is pasted in. Did it work?

Do note that some programs will not let you Copy and Paste. Many Adobe .pdf files will not allow it because the author locked the .pdf file.

Also, go to Control Panel > Accessibility Options and make sure "Use StickyKeys is unchecked.

Finally, when it comes to copying files, some times it is easier to "drag and drop". Open up My Computer twice. In one Window, navigate to your file. In the other Window, navigate to where you want to copy it to.

Now click and hold the mouse button on your file, then drag it to the desired destination. Before letting go of the mouse button, press the Ctrl key. See the little "+" sign appear next to your mouse? That means "copy". Let go of the Ctrl key and the "+" goes away - that means "move". You can do this with highlighted text in almost any Windows application - this is a form of copy and paste as well.
