Cryptdll.dll File Missing
Hi
I have my mum's old computer, i would say it wa about 3/4 years old. My brother had it before i did, and i've just got it all set up, but i can't get it to load properly. It brings up the windows xp loading page and then it just goes to a black screen. If we press delete it comes up with a box that says:
The title of the box says 'Isass.exe - unable to locate component'
Then in the box it says:
This application has failed to start because cryptdll.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this please?
Many thanks!

Hi and welcome to D-A-L
have you got the original XP disc?
can you get into safe mode (press F8 when booting)?

I havent got the original disk but i have got a disk of xp. We've tried to boot from the disk and it won't work, i can't get the menu up that has an option of repair. We can get into dos but when it gets to the command prompt it just freezes.
I haven't tried safe mode, will try that tonight. What do i do when i get it in to safe mode? If i can get it into safe mode mind!
Thanks for the reply
