So far installing these drivers you've given me has allowed me to use the options>properties part of the sounds and audio decides>Volume bit. but still any sound that is picked up as being 'microphone' is still coming from my sound card.
ok, your computer is a Compaq, not Dell
The problem you face now is either incorrect driver (most likely) or a corrupt windows file
From the new information i now have, i believe you need this driver
Installation Instructions
