commit charge skyrockets when do virus scan.
i'm running a dell 5150c computer with windows xp pro, over the last couple weeks i've not been able to complete a scan with my f-secure software,my commit charge goes from about 300 to 1.3gb,which causes my computer to freeze.i have since gone & got windows defender, which will complete a scan, but is still in the 1.3gb range,i've done all my updates as well, dell was not helpfull @ all, unless u call wiping my hard drive helpfull, this proplem started proplably because i like to try new programs, but i allways delet them if they don't live up 2 there claims,i have a 250gb hard drive with 512 ram,i have scaled back 2 100gb's on my hard drive & have deleted everything i can think of that might b causing this proplem,i should also mention that i never turn my computer of unless needed, but now i must doa restart every day to bring down the commit charge,i would really not want or have 2 wipe hard drive, when as far as i can tell this is the only proplem,i did however see a message the other day when rebooting that i was missing a system32config file, but have not seen it since &have done a chk?file boot but was unable to complete a bad sector scan do to freeze up,other than that idon't know what else to say other then HELP! thank you all for listening.ps i have also deleted & reinstalled my f-secure
