ok guys, i finally got a new hard drive to replace the old one since it was too small anyways. i previously had windows xp pro on my comp and it came up w/ a system32\hal.dll error one day and i was never able to restart it. so i backed up all of my old files from the old HD that i could salvage. i've never installed a new HD or rebooted a computer w/ a new OS. i would greatly appreciate anyone's input.

Just to clarify: are you looking to:

1) repair a system32 hal.dll error?

2) install a new hard drive?

3) install a clean version of XP?
