Windows update creates unwanted temp folders

    Hi

Windows update has left some temp folders on other partitions of my drive including my external hard drive which is intended for storage only.

The folders are named with a string of random characters and contain a folder called update.

Is it safe to delete these folders ?

When ive tried deleting one of these folders I get a message saying I dont have permission to access it - even though I have administrator rights.
Is there a work around for this?

    Many thanks

    Volty

Temp files should be safe to delete.

What makes you think these came from Windows Update? If they did it would be very strange.

    Have you run AV scans?

Move On Boot is a possibility.

You might also want to post a HijackThis log in that section of the forum.
