ok... so heres the go.

i uninstalled the sound card, then i set CMOS to default, then reinstalled the sound card. though i found that when i restarted the computer after the install, i agian had to reset the CMOS. once that was done... i no longer recieved the error msg on start up

after a little toying around with the mixer, i got the mic and speakers all up and running perfectly and now..... ta da.... everything is working wonders
