Dell Dimension 4400
Windows XP
P4 2ghz
1GB RAM
So, last night I installed some windows upates which weren't deemed important for my system, once installed (I think, I wasn't watching at the time) the machine restarted and came up with this screen. We apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have cuase this.
If your computer stoppped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protectyour filesand folders, choose last known configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.
If a previous startup attemptwas interrupted due to a power failure or because the power or reset button was pressed, or if you arent sure what caused the problem, choose start windows normally.
Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt (your most recent settings that worked)
Last known good configuration
start windowsnormally
Out of the 5 available options they all return me to this same screen. When I choose start windows normally and last good configuration they start the Windows XP screen with the blue loading bar then and a quick flash of a blue screen with white text saying "A problem has occured........" (too quick to make anything else out)
I have my Windows XP installation disc, not sure if I should insert.
Where can I go from here, thanks.
Hi and welcome to D-A-L
if you try safe mode do you still get the same problem?
Yea, all safe mode options take me back to the screen.
