SHRegGetValueW problem
I started seeing the following error on an XP Pro machine.
iexplore.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.DLL.
I know that the owner of this machine decided to attempt a repair install of the OS.
Thank you in advance.

Was the Repair Install completed?
Was SP2 reinstalled?
One common source of that error is the lack of SP2 or all Windows Critical Updates.

Thanks for the reply. the installation of SP2 solved the first error. Now I get in a loop when attempting to run Windows Update. I get the screen to select Express or Custom. It does not matter what selection I make, I get a screen stating that "Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer. To continue: Register or reinstall the files for me now(Recommended) or Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem. The recommended selection appears to show that something is downloaded and goes thru a short progressive screen of registering files. I am then shown the Express or Custom selection screen again.
Any sggestions?

If you are getting the error “Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer” then you can resolve it by re-registering or by updating the DLL(data link library) files that are required by the Windows update to run.
