I have recently gotten several issues with my Pentium 1Mb Windows Media XP with SP2 and all updates. The sound and drives worked up to a month ago. Maybe spyware and malware but cannot install my legit copy of Norton Antivirus and Internet Security since the drives dont work.

1) I get a multimedia device driver missing. I get the message twice. So no sound.
2) My CD and DVD drives don't work. The DVD opens. The CD drive doesnt open. The DVD drive does not play a DVD once placed inside. Device Manager says they both need drivers but once I try to search on the C drive they arent there. The CD is Sony CRX 230E and the DVD is Memorez DL Dual X1 DVD+/-. I tried searching for drivers but no luck for the Sony and the Memorex drivers don't work since they state that driver doesnt match the drive installed.

So with these issues and others, I wanted to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP Media - but of course cannot since the drives don't work.

HELP!
