Months ago i installed a Sony DVD/Cd Rewritable Drive.(model number: DRX-820U) Every since then i have had some trouble reconizing the device. I play a game on it and i have to turn the Device on and off and evently it will reconize it. any ideas?

have you tried to re-install the drivers?

Remove the current drivers

Start>rt. click my computer> properties> hardware> device manager

Click the + next to "Universal Serial Bus Controlers"

Find your DVD drive in the list and rt. click it click properties> driver> Uninstall

Unplug your drive then plug it back in again, if you recieved a CD-ROM with your drive, insert it into your internal drive now (if you have one)

Windows should automatically install the driver

I was going to try that but i don't know where the disk is. I have this one disk i think might be it but i am afraid to uninstall the driver and then it is the wrong disk.

wndows should be able to find your drivers by searching the internet anyway.

I am going to try the filmware update as soon as i get my computer to reconize the driver.

i was updating and then the computer lost the drive. i will keep trying to update but this is making me mad.
