Okay I went out and bought a antivirus for my computer and when i tried to install it i couldn't becuase i have xp service pack 1 and i need the service pack 2. So I went to go update my computer and everything was going well until i got this message telling me c:\windows\sysytem32\cmd.exe was running from another application and i had to close it and retry. I restarted and attempted a few more times and then I tried going to start and then run and i typed cmd and it told me another application was running it so i couldnt. I'm so frustrated, i just spent money buying ram and anti spyware and anti virus and i cant even put it on the comp. Can anyone tell me how to fix the cmd issue?? or any ideas??

Open your Task Manager and right click cmd.exe and choose End Process.

Right click an empty area of the Taskbar and open Task Manager > Processes

You can also go to msconfig | Startup and try to find whatever program is launching it by selectively stopping programs from starting.

for some reason i cannot open task manager.....

I tried ctrl+alt+delete and i tried ctrl+shift+esc and i still cant open task manager... its like it doesnt exist! can someone help me out?? I still cant run cmd either...
