Hello
Try restarting your computer
if that doesn't work, then you might be infected with a virus!!
Post up a Hijackthis log in the "Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs" section!!
Good luck!
Go to Start/Run and type in:
regsvr32 /i shell32
Click OK.
Restart your computer.
This is newbie onurb. I just joined and am trying to get to know what's what and how I can communicate my problems properly.
I have a similar problem to newbie atree - "double clicking c:, d:,e:, shows 'OPEN WITH' menu "
When I click on any dirive in My Computer I get the Windows Desktop Search page. I can open any drive by right clicking on the drive and selecting Open from the drop down menu.
Would this require a different solution than that given to newbie atree???
jephree - your advise worked like a charm. I've spent months asking how to fix this problem - other help groups gave me dirctions which would not or could not be done on my XP system.
I hope atree has tried your advise. Many thanks onurb
Thanks For Support.
Still I Have Same Problem In Two System In Whivh Double Clicking Hard Disk Drive Shows " Open With Menu".
I Have Tried Change Registry And Run Regsvr32 From Start Menu But Still There Is No Progress.
The Given Trick Worked Well In One System Which Shows "search Menu".
Another Proble I Face Is In Tools Option Folder Option Is Not Showing.
So I Need Help For Both Folder Option And Open With Menu...
As abduls16 pointed out those symptoms are indicative of a virus infection.
If you have knowingly cleared all viruses from these machines then there are a few restore attempts posted online but the first step is to run a full Virus scan and verify that the systems are clean.
Also following abduls16 instructions for posting a HijackThis log wouldn't be a bad idea.
atree did that solve the problem?? I installed AVG and id doesn't seems to solve the problem, any suggestions?? what restore attempts can I try, and where can I get it?
You might try a System Restore to a point prior to your problem:
start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
