My Folder Option file is missing in my Control Panel. Plus it is gone from Tools, folder options.

One possibility is a System Restore to a point prior to the problem.

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore >



This problem has also been resolved in some cases as follows.

I was just exploring the windows registry trying out some stuff, when i saw this "NoFolderOptions" field set to '1'.
When i deleted it the problem was rectified. You will find this field in the infected computer at the following registry address: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]

set the DWORD "NoFolderOptions" to 0 or just delete it.

As noted this behavior indicates some type of infection so you might want to run your scans etc. as well.

I had tried a restore but with no success.

Changing NoFolderOptions to 0 was the secret.

Some months ago I had a Brontok.n virus and it wiped out the Folder Option which has been missing since.
