Recover OPS
Hi all
I had some problems running my pc and got advise from somebody to just run my Windows XP Home installation disk again which I did. Now all the old data, programs etc. are gone. Is there any way to 'undo' what I have done and restore the 'old' system and data? This is a major crisis because I do not have any back ups.
Thanx

Oh dear - that was rubbish advice. It sounds like you've either installed a second copy of Windows XP or you've wiped out the old one. There's no going back now - you've just got to try and pick up the pieces of what you're left with. Have a look in Windows Explorer or My Computer and check firstly that Windows is only installed on the C:\ drive and not another partition such as the D:\ drive. If it's on the C:\ drive still, then have a look in the 'Documents and Settings' folder. You might see two user profiles with your user account name. One of those could be the new, empty one that you are now using and, hopefully, one would be the old one. That will normally contain your old 'My Documents' folder and desktop. Note that you'll need to switch hidden files on (Tools > Folder Options > View).
Let us know how you get on
