I am a new member and am seeking help with my computer (running XP Professional on an HP desktop). The other day, my computer restarted after a spyware scan, which is normal. When it booted back up, I put in my passowrd, the computer took me to my wallpaper only and then kicked me back to the log in screen. It did this repeatedly. After talking to my college IT guys, they told me to boot from this cd and do a system repair, which I did. After the repair, I'm back at square one and it keeps kicking me back to the log in screen. Any ideas?

Did you boot an XP CD and run a Repair Install?

This would have taken about 45 minutes etc.

Yes, I did a repair with the XP cd. It took a while and seemed to work just fine, except that it didn't fix it.

The next step is a Clean Install.
