How to restore fonts to system fonts

I learned about font management software after installing a lot of new fonts, which slow down the system because all those fonts have to load on every startup. I now want to delete all the fonts that I installed, but to leave the system fonts which came pre-installed on the computer.

I tried with a program to check for duplicate files, where I compared the Windows/Fonts folder to my own main fonts folder. Although I might have deleted a lot of fonts, it's still a major mess.

Can someone please tell me if there's a way to delete all fonts, exept the ones that came pre-installed?

    Thanks!

    Fonts supplied with Windows XP

You should be able to delete any not on that list.

If you are missing some they can be reinstalled from your XP CD.

In order to save start up time I too deleted some fonts, unfortunately I deleted some I wanted to keep. How do I get them back by using the XP disk?

I'm not exactly sure about restoring the fonts from the XP CD, but an alternate is to check the list of fonts supplied with Windows XP (see previous reply for the link), and see what fonts you are missing. You can then search for those fonts online (for example: www.dafont.com, www.myfonts.com, www.searchfreefonts.com, www.grsites.com) and reinstall them.

By the way, I just noticed that you asked in another topic about your slow startup. I would also suggest you to have a complete scan on your system for any spyware, adware or viruses installed. Make sure that all the definitions are up to date.

    Good luck!
