    Low Voltage Battery Troubleshooting

When I boot up I get an error screen (most of the time but not always) telling me that I have a low voltage battery problem. If I hit F1 I can bypass the warning and continue successfully to boot up. I have tried the suggestions in your Dell Q&A support with no success. I am running a Dell 8300 model desktop with Windows XP Home. For years I have not had this issue. This is a recent development that is quite annoying.

I am hoping that you can offer some additional suggestions that might help me to resolve this issue.

    Thanks,

You may just need to replace the motherboard battery.

Thanks. I will try that suggestion. If the battery is weak, why doesn't the clock begin to lose time and why does everything seem to work fine once I bypass the error screen and continue to bootup?

I can only speculate that it is an advanced warning for a low battery that still works.

You can also go into your BIOS Setup and Disable F1 upon error.
