    Angry Constant BSOD w/Inspirion 9100

I recently purchased the above laptop on, "eBay" (no warranty). I love it however, ( it came with XP and product key) it has not worked properly since I bought it. I was receiving constant BSOD's along with complete shutdowns (just turned off), So, I decided to reinstall the O.S. About 45% thru the installation, I would get the BSOD (Irq Not Equal). I have purchased a new HDD and new Ram and still get the BSOD. I've been to dell's website and downloaded all the updated drivers, etc. I finally was able to get XP put on the system but now it won't install SP2. I am very much a novice so any help will have to be step by step procedures. Please do not assume that I know what you are talking about. Thanks

is the code for the BSOD you get 0x0000008e?

are you trying to install from a CD or the internet?
when exactly do you get the BSOD's?
have you checked for heat issues?
have you tried resetting your BIOS to the default settings?
    try installing SP2 in safemode

    Sorry for all the questions,
    Mike

Questions are good, I just hope I can produce the answers.

is the code for the BSOD you get 0x0000008e? Yes, I have received that code a couple of time.

are you trying to install from a CD or the internet? At first I tried from the CD, then I downloaded the file, placed it on my desktop, booted to SAFE MODE and tried installing it from there.

when exactly do you get the BSOD's? I recently purchased the above laptop on, "eBay" (no warranty). I love it however, ( it came with XP installed and a product key) it has not worked properly since I bought it. I have been receiving constant BSOD's along with complete shutdowns (just turned off). Before reinstalling the OS, I was experiencing constant BSOD especially when I viewed IE websites that dealt with FLASH and when using DREAMWEAVER or PHOTOSHOP. During the reinstall it would get to about 45% thru the installation, I would get the BSOD (Irq Not Equal). I then purchased a new HDD and new Ram and still get the BSOD. When I finally was able to get XP put on the system I went to dell's website and downloaded all the updated drivers, etc. and it seemed to get worse. Now it won't install SP2. Yesterday, I uninstalled the Video Driver Update from Dell. Today, when I first tried to turn on the system, I had to restart the laptop three times (because the 1st 2 times produceded a BSOD) I have only experienced a BSOD 2 other times today and the laptop has been on since 7:30 AM (time now is 4:30PM). This is a drastic improvement.
I am very much considering that the Video Card might need replaced.

have you checked for heat issues? The laptop is not hot or even warm. It has 2 fans inside and is sitting on a chill pad that has 2 fans.

have you tried resetting your BIOS to the default settings? There is no Default Settings in the BIOS.

try installing SP2 in safemode: Answered above.

    My latest minidump log attached.

    I appreciate your help.

    Update!

I went to this site: http://freestone-group.com/video-car...ility-test.htm , downloaded it, installed it and ran it.

It got about 1:30 (min/sec) into it and I got the BSOD. I rebooted and received BSOD.

I finally got into the system and tried the download again. The same thing happened.

IT appears that I cannot upload the 6 files so, I will upload them and post them in order starting with the one attached here.

In my humble opinion, it is either the video care itself or the 64 mb ram stick on it.???????

Dell has a crash analysis tool along with video BIOS and drivers here:

    http://support.dell.com/support/down...&catid=&impid=

I suspect all those dumps are triggered by your graphics (video) device or drivers.

I would run the Dell tool and also uninstall and reinstall the relevant video BIOS and drivers and see how that goes.

I see no indication from Dell that that graphics card is replaceable. Do you know otherwise? With very few exceptions these "cards" are built-in to the motherboard.
