I was given a TOSHIBA T8200 Laptop and Im trying to install XP SP3 on it, but everytime setup starts loading the files, it stops at "kernel debbuger DLL". A message comes up saying that File setupdd.sys could not be loaded. The error code is 4
Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.Could anyone please help me?

That error often indicates your hardware cannot handle XP.
What Operating System was on this laptop?
Also look at this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330181
the Hardware was win 2k
From a quick search I find these specs:
I have seen XP run on similar specs which would suggest some damage perhaps.Toshiba T8200 Pentium 3, 750Mhz 128Mb-ram 10GB Harddisk CD-Rom 14inch tft monitor
Did 2K run OK on this laptop?
That is one of the errors I got before with my SP2 disk a few times, I tried my sp1 disk and it worked fine!!File setupdd.sys could not be loaded.
Yea win 2k was working perfect. The guy who gave it to me used to use it for office work only, a few years ago. The problem is he forgot the password to access the desk top. I decided to put win XP SP3.
One other problem was, when I first got it, I was trying to remove one of the memories to put a 256mb in, there was a little damage where the memory sticks to. I don't know whether that is the cause or not.
Thnx for your help.
your error can be caused by damaged hardware but i dont think the RAM slot could be completely damaged because your laptop is starting up.... did you try putting the RAM in the other slot?
Hi guys
I jst want to ask about another problem a friend has. he's got a computer that has an AMD Athlon 64, 256RAM, 120GB HDD and Win XP SP2 Pro. The problem is most of the time the computer freezes, jst stop working, I try to figuer out what seems to be the problem but I don't know. Would Anyone please help?
Thnx
does he have alot of programs running in the background?
i had a friend with a similar problem, i did a clean install of xp for him and it works fine now!
it is worth a go but remember to back up any important files... it is also worth partioning the drive into 2 (this can be done when you are chosind what drive to install xp to) say partion it into 1x 20gb drive for windows and 1x 100gb drive for everything else
or perhaps 40gb and 80gb to give room to install programs
a RAM upgrade would be very beneficial aswell
His HDD is partitionned to 3 (C,D and E) so, I dn't think is the partitionning. How did you do the clean install of xp for your friend? Did you jst re-install XP? I was thinking the RAM wouldn't be the problem as he's got a 256MB. Cld you plz let me know asp?
thnx 4 ur Help
