I'd appreciate any suggestions to a problem I have.

I have a new ASUS model DRW-1612BL DVD-RW. I'm running Windows XP Home. I just realized that it will only operate in PIO mode, despite "DMA if Available" being selected. It is set as Master on the last connector of IDE channel #2 (using an 80-pin IDE cable, two HD on IDE #1), and a different DVD-RW on the middle connector of the cable set as a slave is also set to use DMA and always goes to Ultra DMA Mode 2. I can't figure out what would cause the ASUS DVD-RW to not use DMA mode. It worked in this configuration before.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've foudn lots of help in how to turn DMA on (set the transfer mode for IDE channel #2 to DMA if avaialble), but no guidance on what to do if that doesn't work.
