I want to plug my laptop into my tv using the s-video output but don't seem to be getting a signal. What do I need to do?
Kade
could you please tell us what you have done?
is it plugged directly into the TV?
is it by Scart or s-video on the TV?
The laptop has an s-video jack (4 pin), cable has this plug on one end and and rca plug on the other end which I have plugged into the video in jack on my tv. I have the windows desktop up on my tv now, and media player and the only thing on my laptop monitor that's not on my tv at the moment is the movie.
so the TV is showing your desktop and windows media player?
the movie is playing on the laptop?
but not the TV?
Yep, that's exactly what's happening
that is strange... have you tried playing the film on another program?
when you click start or move the mouse or something, does it do the same on the TV?
sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to find the problem!
Unfortunately windows media player is the only player we have on this laptop. It's a bit old and doesn't get a lot of use.
But yes, the mouse moves on the tv when I move it on the laptop. Absolutely everything is the same on the tv as it is on the laptop except the movie isn't there!
No need to apologise for asking me questions, I'm very grateful that you're taking the time to help me!
This could be a copy protection thing of some sort....
what graphics do you have on your laptop?
i found this:
I've figured out a work-around. On the mirrored mode, that's when media player has blank video.
Set to multi-monitor mode, I dragged media player to the right so it appeared on the TV, then played. Movie plays on the TV.
Probably not a copy protection thing due to the source of the video...
Graphics card I can't seem to find the specs for but is 3 years old. Was almost top of the range when it was new. Would think it should still play a movie on the tv..?
