security wise, from what i heard Mac currently is quite good. not so prone to viruses and such. not sure about Vista though since it's still pretty new.

Windows 98 and Windows XP seems to be the more popular compared to ME and 2000, and the last time i used ME and 2000 i was quite young. don't remember precisely.

but basically it's the simplicity and interface of 98 and XP that's the difference. that is as far as i know anyways. in XP things look prettier, and alot of functions are more easily accesible.

plug and play has also been improved quite alot. making it more user friendly.

    my personal opinion.

Vista's still new, and i've not given it a whirl yet.

Vista was released a few weeks ago

It was the easiest OS to instal I have ever used.

I know some people have problems with all new operating systems, but this one I really like.

I have Vista home premium. People complain about the price, but I bought mine from novatech.

I find it very user friendly.
This contains windows media, which I use with my tuner card instead of the original software .

You can download a program from microsoft to check if your system/drivers are compatable.etc.

    All the best.

Vista's new interface from what i heard is really pretty. and it's speech functions and such have also been revamped since WinXP.

however, it does require a higher spec pc. i'd say a minimum of 1GB to run things smoothly. 512 does the job but it'll be like running XP on a 128 you know?

there's alot of Vista Packages, from Home Basic to Ultimate if i'm not mistaken. about 5 or 6 packages. which is good since you can give Vista a whirl for a lower price. of course you lose out it some of the special apps and functions in the cheaper packages.

me personally, i'll wait a year or so when it's stable. and when i have a better computer. lol.

what you mean by when it stable, you mean the price or the vista is still in testing. Fingees , you use vista can you take some images from the desktop and the new program i want to see what different from xp.

Vista is still pretty fresh. while it's now on sale and all, usually Operating Systems take a period of time before some bugs are rooted out. since beta testing, however efficient, can't beat the real testing done by millions of users around the world doing their thing.

so when i said stable, i mean where reports or bugs and issues are less, support for it is better, and of course, the price would be a bonus.

as a side note, i'm using a fake "Vista" on winXP. it's basically a theme, but it does come with AeroGlass-like software. so it's pretty cool for people who just want the black look.
