hello,

Yesterday when i woke my computer was off, i dont know why, i always have it on. i turned it on it booted up fine until it gets to the login screen which nothing appears, just a black screen. (it goes through the windows xp startup page with that bar on the bottom and than after that nothin happens.

Safe mode works fine with no problems
i have tried last known good configuration and nothing happens, i have tried system restore to almost a week before and still nothing happens. i changed the options on msconfig and yet again nothing happens.

i have xp sp2, 2.8ghz 1gig of ram, 256mb video

im running out of options and i dont know what to do. any help is appreciated.

Try booting your XP CD into the Recovery Console

First off try the FIXBOOT command.

If no go try FIXMBR

And yet another try at BOOTCFG

nothing happened with all three. now i got a bigger problem.as soon as it goes on the windows xp loading screen it restarts. i try to reinstall the window files using the xp cd and this is what happened. i dont even kno if there is anything left to do. oh yea on top of that i cant even go into safe mode.

You can try either a Repair or Clean Install of XP.
