Dear People Who Can Help Me With This...
I will try and be as to the point as possible and hopefully one of you will have some possible solutions. I've read most of the previous posts about this and searched all over Google, nothing has worked.
Problem: Sound stops playing after a random ammount of time... anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media Player or even online flash players will not begin playing any songs after that, or complete the one it is currently playing.
(So, for example, if I'm playing a song and it stops at 1:22 into it... the player will not progress to 1:23 or have any sound come out. Or, if I then try and click a new song it won't start at all.) By the way -- I'm just using songs as an example, no other sound works either.
Things Tried & Tested:
1) Speakers are brand new Logitechs and work perfectly for that initial 6 minutes or so. Also work fine on other computers/audio devices.
2) Since my original motherboard on board sound sucked (Asus K8N-E Deluxe) -- it would not play my left speaker -- I went out and got a cheap-O soundcard: Thundersound 4.1 Wave by Inland.
3) All drivers installed and up to date.
Couple Ideas:
Using your forums, I went onto the Computer Management and looked at error messages under System and Application. I found this occurs every time I have this problem:
Source BROWSER
Event ID 8032
---
The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{2CB2177E-FE70-41C6-8A85-E46685D0331A}. The backup browser is stopping.
So I shuffled to their help center linked here: (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135404/en-us) but I cannot understand what they mean. Browser... does that have to do with Internet Explorer? I use Mozilla Firefox...
Thanks!

PS: I just got a new hard drive and loaded up Windows XP... however, I believe I've gone over my allowed usages on my serial number because when I try to download Service Pack 2 it won't allow me to do it. Would this cause it? Do I need to buy a new Windows?
if you have activated windows, it shouldnt be a problem, i have installed xp on my computer at least 7 times on 3-4 different hard drives and have had no problems
look in your device manager start>rt. click on my computer>properties>hardware>hevice manager
click the + next to sound, video and game controlers... do you see any yellow question marks?
Hey Mike, thanks for the input. My device manager has zero yellow question marks and everything looks to be running well in that department.
I checked out all the typical answers (speakers/sound card vs motherboard card/proper bios set up for sound/etc), but still no luck.
Any deeper ideas or insight?
Thanks I truly appreciate the help.

PS: UNITED.Sorry... I'm a Man U fan... although I do like Liverpool a lot too.

How would I go about uninstalling windows from my computer, then installing a fresh brand-new copy of it?
Do I uninstall from Add/Remove Programs, or do I just stick in the new disk and install from that? Does it overwrite the previous copy?
Thanks
-Kyle
If you boot from the CD, It will enable you to do a format and clean instal
Alright! I went ahead and got on the horn with Microsoft about why I couldn't update my windows: I was using a multi-user license that had expired. So... formatted my hard drive and installed my roommates fresh copy, everything up and running, all Windows updates downloaded. WHeee. However...
Same problem. Sound suddenly stops after a bit... anywhere from thirty one seconds to two minutes. I **think** it might be occurring when I'm closing or opening other windows, but I'm not sure.
I just re-tested the speakers and tried out my headphones... both work fine, but there's no sound after it suddenly stops.
Right no, no yellow exclamation marks on any of the device manager things.
Any ideas on where to turn next?
