    Power Save Mode?

    Hi! Here's my problem:

I have a Dell dimension 5100c that up until yesterday was working fine. I came home from work and turned on my computer and noticed the monitor wouldn't turn on. The power button on the monitor was an orange light instead of green and also noticed my mouse and keyboard weren't lighting up. The tower works fine, apparently. I can hear the fan working inside and my cable modem lights up as if it connects to the internet, no problem.

So I started to mess around with the monitor and I hit a random button (not the power button) and the screen turns on for a quick second and reads: "In power save mode. Touch key or move mouse". That would be fine and dandy if I could. I tried hooking up the keyboard and mouse to the other usb ports that I have and still nothing works.

I've asked friends that I know who are computer savvy and some tell me its my video card that probably got fried or its my power supply that got fried.

Any help would be much appreciated.

For reference HERE is the Dell Support page for your computer.

Try unplugging the computer from the Main or wall outlet and then hold in the Power On button for a full minute. Then plug it back in and try again.

If this fails we can try other troubleshooting.
