Im sure an easy fix...
Hi, im sure this will be an easy answer for some of you who are more familiar with computers. The other day I was typing up a paper when out of nowhere my monitor zapped out while my computer was still running. Upon restart the computer powered up, but the monitor recieved no signal. I have tried using other monitors, jsut to find that nothing changed. I have also switched my video card and hard drive with another one of my computers, and they seem to be fine. So any help or questions would be great, and greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!

Remove all the RAM and try to power on.
Do you hear BEEPS?
If so reseat the RAM. Just one stick to test. See if it works.
-
I removed the RAM and heard nothing on the next boot.
**When I reboot should I have keyboard connected during this tests?
-
Yes on the keyboard.
Did you ever hear a BEEP as the computer was starting?
Usually there is one BEEP as the BIOS POST signals success.
Did you used to hear this?
The point being if the motherboard or case speaker is working and you hear no BEEPS powering on with no RAM then the motherboard is in serious question as to its' functionality.
-
No, I do not hear beeps anymore. I used to when the computor worked at the BIOS.

If it is not beeping with no RAM installed and the speaker works then the motherboard is the main suspect.
Try clearing the CMOS.
-
and how would i go about doing that?
-
Depends on the motherboard. The manual should have instructions.
In some cases you just remove the battery for a few minutes.
In other cases there is a reset jumper that needs to be placed in the reset position for a few minutes then returned to the standard position.
