USB device not recognized
I would love it if anyone out there can help me figure out my usb problem. Every device I plug in comes up with the USB device not recognized in every port on my computer. I have tried everything to fix it, but the simple solutions have not worked. I cannot use any usb device, here are the things I have tried...
-previous restore points
-reinstall usb devices
-uninstall the usb hubs from device manager
-unplug the machine for various time lengths
-reset the motherboard by taking out the battery
-updated all motherboard drivers
-tried various spyware and antivirus scans to find anything that would cause a problem
-checked bios and usb devices are enabled
Anyone that can help please respond...I really need my computer back in full function.

What are these USB devices?
If its a device other than a thumb drive, it will need an installation CD to install it and its specific drivers for it.
Have you tried just a normal USB flash drive?
Are the USB devices you are wanting to attach to stay connected or will they be removed often?

If you are using XP, have you set the bios to know you are using a plug & play operating system.
Some pcs require this, otherwise the bios may or may not recognise USB equipment, whereas XP usually recognises a lot more.
Just a point.

Yes, I am using XP. I have had the computer with the devices that are now unrecognized for a year and everything has worked just fine. I came home from work one day and could not hotsync my palm pilot or print anything using my usb printer. My camera does not work with the machine either. I do not have a jump drive, so I have not tried that. If I plug my mouse into the usb it will not work either.
Other forums have not been able to give me any help, so I have posted to some more in hopes that the right person will stumble onto my dilema and be able to help.
