Is this a new problem?
Does the monitor LED go green then amber/orange?
Do you get a message on the monitor that there is no signal?
Do you hear any beeps?
-
Yes this is a new problem, and yes the monitor still flashes green, but I get nothing on the screen and no beeps.
-
Any idea what happened? Did you turn it off OK yesterday and then it just didn't start today?
Any idea?
Are you familiar with working inside the case?

Last week I attempted to copy my first cd, I believe it took up too much space on my hard drive(got message that"disk space was very low, may compromise system stability)but I attempted it anyway(I know, stupid). I was able to remove the movie, but it totally fragmented my drive, i ran the defrag and it fixed most of it but th drive is still sort of fragmented. It seems like my two disk drives are stuck in some kinda cycle, the lights keep flashing in an alternating pattern. yes I've worked inside the case before.

Does the BIOS POST?
Do you have your XP CD?
If so see if you can boot into the Recovery Console
First try FIXBOOT
If that doesn't work then FIXMBR
If that doesn't work then BOOTCFG
-
No BIOS does not post. Yes I have my XP CD, but can't reach Recovery Console or anything else because all I get is a black screen. Tried F8 on start but nothing, tried CD on startup but nothing, even tried unplugging power source. then unplugging all drive ribbons and power sources, then putting everything back, starting it up, and no change, still getting alternating drive lights and a black screen. Don't know what else to try, maybe time for new hard drive huh?

Assuming that the monitor works if you are getting no BIOS POST and the monitor LED is Green then the hard drive hasn't even entered the equation yet.
If the monitor works and its LED is Green and you get no BIOS POST or Logo screen from your chipset then your BIOS is not POSTing.
Try removing all the RAM and power it up. This should give you multiple BEEPS. If not and assuming that the case speaker works then the motherboard itself is having issues.
