is there anyway you can permanently delete them?
i have deleted them before- but then they appear back!

    thanks

Normally if you delete these folders Windows will regenerate
them at some point, so you will have to remove them from
    the registry.

Go To Start > Run box type: regedit

WARNING: Incorrectly editing the registry may severly damage your system!

Find the Key: HKEY_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Shell folders

    HKEY_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/User Shell folders

    HKEY_Local_Machine/software/Microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/
    Shell folders

    HKEY_Local_Machine/software/Microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/usershell folders

    HKEY_Users/.default/software/Microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/
    Shell folders

    HKEY_Users/.default/software/Microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/usershell folders

Find the folders My Music, My Pictures, My Video and double click whichever folder you want to delete and delete the value data, click ok. close the registry.

Go To your documents and delete the folders you picked, Since we have changed the registry the folders will not be regenerated.

That should remove the folders you wanted.

Believe me it's nothing special, I'll bet everyone of the moderators on this forum and many members could of answered your question, they probably were doing something else at the time, I was on the forum, so I answered.

When you work with computers, for years you learn these things because their things you yourself want to do, I'll bet over the years, you will be able to do the same thing.

My first computer(Commodore 64/1541 disk drive) which I still have today and still use once in awhile.

Please becareful working in the registry, if your not comfortable ask someone to help you.

Thanks- i dont think ill bother doing it- its not worth the risk- its not major annoyance. ill just move those folders to another folder hidden away somewhere.

i hope i learn as much as you know!

    cheers

Very good decision, working in the registry should only be done by someone who has worked with computers for many years or taken a course dealing with computers. Their is a very good reason you can not access the registry from the desktop, unless you use the run box or command prompt in windows and type the command "regedit" to open windows registry.

When I manually edit the registry even I have made mistakes, so if this can happen to someone who feels comfortable working in the registry, think of what could happen to someone who's not familiar with the registry.

I was reading over my post and I broke the number one rule when working in the registry, always make a backup of the registry or use system restore and backup your system, I couldn't believe I didn't tell you this so I'm so glad you did not edit the registry. I think the moderators and members of the forum who read my post are saying "What kind of idiot is telling a person to edit the registry, but not telling them to back it up" between you and me, I think they were just being nice and didn't want to hurt my feelings even though they would be 100% correct in saying so.

Please believe me when I say one day you will know how to do all this, I'm sure their are things you can do that I could not, so it's not how smart you are it's just doing something over and over again. The more you work with computers the more you learn how to do things in them.

    Have a nice day!
