does anyone know how to fix (and how it happened)
1: when my computer is turned on i have a black screen with a small flashing line in the corner of the screen.
it can take up to ten minutes to start loading.

2: when i go to help and support on my menu bar if i click on anything there it comes up saying undefined

i have not installed any new hardware or software

It suggests a failing hard drive.

Or cable.

Or boot sector virus.

The blinking cursor indicates that your computer cannot find the bootable hard drive.

Hence the cable or drive are an issue if not a virus.

You can also access your BIOS Setup and confirm that your hard drive with your Operating System is set to boot prior to any other hard drive.


You can also try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore


You can also run fixes from the XP Recovery Console. FIXBOOT for example.
