    Strange Booting Problem

I recently got a new Motherboard (k8u) and a new AMD 3400 64 bit processor. Well i guess it isnt recently, it was about 6 months ago. Basically whatever i do i cant get the sucker to start up. I can boot from CD rom, start the windows installation process but everytime i get to the IRQ part before the "Windows XP" loading screen it freezes. Some times random letters and numbers will change differeny colors on the IRQ Screen, sometimes little portions of the letters and numbers will dissappear. Ive tried installing XP Pro, and XP 64Bit Edition Pro and nothing seems to work. Both my harddrives work because i put them in different computers (IDE Harddrives) The ram checks out fine, everything is working fine. But I have no freak'n clue how to get the comp to run. Anyone know anything?

Could you please clarify exactly where the XP Setup freezes?

You boot the CD. You choose Install. You choose Setup or Clean install.

At what step are you seeing IRQ information?

Xp gets through all the inital set up, deleting old set up files, installing new ones. Then it restarts, and gets to where the IRQ's are and at the bottom says "Boot from CD" and then boom, freeze.

    Is this a Microsoft CD?

I'm not familiar with that particular screen.

The usual steps/screens are seen in this link:

Scroll down and click the thumbnails to enlarge. From these steps can you find a similar stage where the freeze occurs?

    15. When you see the "Press any Key to Reboot" do not Press any Key. If CD boots anyway, remove CD and reboot.

Basically, i do steps 1-15, restart the computer, it shows the motherboard, memory check, all the drives, then it goes to the next screen which has a black background, and white text, it shows the IRQ numbers for certain things, Multimedia device, USB input device, ect. Then below all that it would say "Boot from Cd" and then "Press any key to boot" At which point i do not press a key. The screen freezes there, and that is where the problem is.

    Sorry for the delayed response...

I would remove all hardware save the PSU | CPU | RAM (1 stick) | Graphics card | DVD/CD drive | Hard drive and try again.

No go on that either, it still stops at the exact same time, really starting to get annoying.
