    Unhappy Desiganting drives

I have a portable harddrive which I am using to store video taken from a camera and am subsequently editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. I hadn't removed my hard drive before, until the other day, and now that I have reconnected it, it is using a different drive. It was using Drive E, and there is nothing in the E drive, however it insists on being on the L:\ or J:\

Obviously this is a problem, since when I try and open existing projects on Premiere it is looking at a different file path. Is there a way of ensuring that a removable device always uses the same drive in future? Or is there another way of solving my problems?

    Thanks for your time

sorry, I believe that I've put this in the wrong section, and it should be in hardware, please reply in this thread though, as I am desperate to find out.

Windows assigns drive letters arbitrarily if a drive is removed and returned.

You can change the drive letter (other than C:\) via Disk Management:

Right click My Computer then click Manage then Disk Management.

Right click in the graphical space on the right side of the window for the drive and choose: Change file path or letter.
