Hey, a computer at the store that I am currently is running Windows XP and the computer starts up just fine but 25 minutes later the computer just shut down.

We didn't try to shut the computer down or anything. The computer just cuts off as if someone trying to shut it down by pulling the plug. Do anyone have suggestion what it could be. I have already tried the power supply and tested it to see if it working properly and that checks out fine.

I am bout to close to saying that the motherboard is bad but I don't want to tell a customer wrong information. Any help would be greatly appreciated from this...thanks!!

First suspect would be heat. GPU or CPU most likely.

See if it will run on a smaller graphics card.

did the customer add any hardware that you know of? might ask them just to be sure. and if they did add hardware make sure that the power supply has enough watts to keep it running..

Ok, so the parts in the computer are all from the manufacturer except the modem that we installed in there to try and fix the problem from last time. The problem didn't happen for us when it was still in the shop and I ran it for the amount of time I was at work.

The computer is back and it is still shutting down I just tried another power supply just to make sure it was only but that is not the case it still shut down after that. Any other suggestions. A motherboard wouldn't cause it to power on and power off on it's own would it??

no i wouldnt think it is the motherboard.. so it runs just fine when you had it at your shop right?? and never shut down?

Yes, it runs just fine matter of fact...I wanted to see if it would shut down again because when I took out the power supply from the computer I noticed that one of the plugs wasn't plugged in correctly so I decided to plug that cord in with everything else and started up the computer and the computer hasn't shut off since I did that.....this was about the last time I posted on here. I am going to run this test over the weekend to make sure that the computer still hasn't shut down....

If it doesn't shut down I am done with it!
