Hello all,
I have a problem. I have not played my 2004 MS flight sim in awhile, so the other day I decided to play and the game starts off fine but as soon as I pull the yoke back and the plane leaves the ground the computer would reboot. I set the option to display the error code instead of rebooting and I recieve the following message BAD_HEADER_POOL I went into MS config and unchecked MAPPING INDEXING and then got the error message BAD_HEADER_CALL So I switch on the mapping index and from what I gather I have a bad or conflicting device driver. I know since the last time I actualy played flight sim I have installed the following: DIAMOND PCI 7.1 EXTREEM SOUND CARD/ MEMOREX DUAL LAYER DVD BURNER that also came with NERO burning software BTW Nero always has an error when burning DVD's but thats all I have changed with the computer and before that flight sim worked great. I tried to update all current drivers for the above mention items and all are updated or I already have the most current version. So at this point I'm at a loss as waht to do now. Any help or ideas?

Check your Event Viewer via Administrative Tools.
Open the System as well as Application tabs and look for red X errors that coincide with your problem. Details here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427
Also if your blue screen is showing a memory dump do the following:
Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.
If no .dmp files check for minidump.
Remember this location and the path that leads to it.
Then:
1) Download and install the
Debugging Tools from Microsoft
All you need do is download and install this. Make no attempt to start or run it.
2) Download and install this
debugwiz
This is a DOS based batch file that will command the above Microsoft Tools.
3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.
4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.
If you are looking for links on how to interpret this data for yourself try here first:
http://www.wd-3.com/archive/registercontext.htm
OK did as instructed noticed that I had about 10 minidump logs in folder so I ran the debug for the latest one and here is the complete log hope this helps

That certainly involved your sound driver although that is not to say that that driver in itself is the problem.
My DUMP reading does not go too deep but the dump itself shows the path to detection:
Driver verifier can be run as seen here:The pool is already corrupt at the time of the current request.
This may or may not be due to the caller.
The internal pool links must be walked to figure out a possible cause of
the problem, and then special pool applied to the suspect tags or the driver
verifier to a suspect driver.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244617
Ok so what do you think is my next step?
You could try removing the sound card or disabling it to see if that is the problem.
You could also verify that you have the latest compatible drivers for the card.
If the issue is only with the flight sim you could see if that software has any patches etc.
Did you disable the on-board audio when you added the sound card?
yes I disabled the onboard sound and I have the most current driver for the sound card. How do I dissable the sound card?
Look in the Device Manager under Sound. Probably the same place you disabled the onboard unless you did that in the BIOS?
Right click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager
The log errors appear to relate to drivers that I would associate with an on-board device:
cmuda = C-Media driver
portcls = audio stream driver
sysaudio = Microsoft audio driver
Are these the drivers you installed for the card:
http://www.dmmdownload.com/current.php
well I dissabled my sound card and that seem to have done it. Everything works ok now. So I assume it was the driver for the sound card. I had the most current driver as I just bought the card and the driver was updated and everything. So I guess that sound card is juts incompatible.
Perhaps conflict rather than incompatibility.
I would try to contact Diamond and ask them.
