No Disk - WinXL error message

I recently reinstalled WinXL on my Dell E510 computer. The tech directed the re installation of my operating system. And when it was over my main drive was named I: . One of the secondary slots for a memory card is named C:.

When I try to open certain programs I get a Windows - No Disk error message. It reads:

"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive."

After clicking on either Yes, No, or Continue, several times it goes away. Meanwhile the program has appeared behind the error message box. It is a pain.

Anyone have any idea how to trouble shoot this issue to get rid of this false message??

    Thanks.

    Barbara

    Hi Barbara
I'm assuming this tech was from Dell yes?
For a start memory slots don't have names now can you tell me what it says in Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management / (Expand the Storage Tree if is not already) Disk Management and tell me what Volumes you have.
    Like in the shot below.

    Ok
I'm now also assuming this was definately some kind or re-install as you stated rather than a brand new install as the drive letters have got bumped up as to suggest that.
It still sounds like it still isn't fixed properly as to me it should not be coming up with this error msg.
Is the disk you have an XP OEM version of XP saying something on it along the lines of "For re-installation of XP on a Dell pc only"?
