I am running Windows XP Home and I have automatic updates enabled. When I look at my Windows Folder in Windows Explorer I see that I currently have 100 sub-folders with names like "$ntuninstallkb921883$. I believe that these refer to updates sent to me by Microsoft.
Are these files harming or slowing my machine? and do I need to keep them once the updates have been received?
Please advise, Thanks.

yeh, keep them. They are probably uninstallers for the updates. Thy shouldn't slow down your pc at all.

Well you must have set windows to show hidden files.
They are hidden for a reason as M$ don't want you to remove them.
Some are for windows restore also.
