i was using windows 98 before installing xp the sound used to work well but after installing winXP the sound card is not working, no music, no starting sounds............. nothing, on control panel it is written that the device is working properly which is making me crazy.
by the way i think my device is mpu-401 compatible midi device or something
plz help i searched the net and did every thing i can...........i'm desperate

You need to install XP drivers.

The motherboard or computer manufacturer will have them on their web site.

Or the sound card manufacturer if you installed a PCI sound card.
