Please Help Me With My Audio Problem :)

OK here is the story. The problem is my Planatronics Headset mic will not work, also the sound jack that is supposed to go in my audio jack (green) on my onboard audio motherboard does not work...but for some odd reason it works in the mic (red) port and the blue port. Music works absolutely fine and when I enter ventrilo I can hear people talking. When I try to talk and place my mic jack in the mic port (red) no one can hear me. I tried talking into the sound recorder but it picks nothing. This is a custom built computer only 2 weeks old. The

    Specs:
Motherboard: KN1 Lite (v1.0A), I have downloaded the Realtek drivers associated with the motherboard, updated everything for it off the http://www.ecsusa.com site (manufacturer of the motherboard)
    AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+
    2.41 GHz, 1 GB Ram

When I go into device manager under Sound, video and game controllers this shows up:

    Audio Codecs
    Legacy Audio Drivers
    Legacy Video Capture Devices
    Media Control Devices
    Realtek AC'97 Audio
    Video Codecs

None of which have ?(Yellow), the only ? I get is under 'Other devices' for a PCI bridge which I don't think is the problem? Could this be a motherboard malfunction on the companies part or have I just did something wrong? Any help will be so welcomed.

When I enter my jack in the AC7 Audio Configuration comes up and says that my front speaker connector (green) is working, yet I don't have anything plugged in. Where I do have it plugged in is the blue jack (Rear Connecter), the stereo line in there is a red ! point, the same goes for the microphone it also has a red ! point indicating it isn't working properly or not in the right place.

Another thing, under my AC7 Audio Configuration I cannot change the type of speakers I'm using to headphone (This is under Speaker Configuration). I can only hear music when I put it under 6 channel mode for 5.1 speaker output

I've struggled in fixing this problem for a whole week...

so, you are uSING ONBOARD SOUND?

your speakiers work but mic doesnt?

if you rt. click on the speaker icon at the bottom right of your desktop, click open volume control, click options>properies and click the recording button
click ok, make sure the microphine is ticked and on full.

    Hope this helps,

hes this been working before (recently) if so, you could try a system restore to a point where it had worked in the past.

No unfortunately since my friend built the computer for me (I got the parts, he set it up for me) it has yet to function correctly with the audio jack situation.

I would ask your freind who built it to sort out the problem as it's never worked correctly

I don't think its his fault for the reason being there isn't anything to connect from those ports because they're attached to the mobo.
