Can't install win XP on my pc

    Hi,

I have a P3 pc running win ME on an 8 gig SCSI hard drive, and I have been trying to up grade it to WIN XP, but for some reason each time I get to the "Setup is starting windows...." everything grinds to a halt. The whole system just hangs. I have 128 RAM. I first thought it was the SCSI hard drive so I removed the power from it and connected a non-SCSI hard drive but the same problem has happened. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Thanks......

Some hardware is not compatible with XP.

128RAM might be the issue. XP needs at least 256; prefers 512.

Hi I have increased the RAM to 256, but still no joy!

Do SCSI HDDs accept Win XP?

Some SCSI drives require motherboard drivers in order for XP to see them but if you are getting to the Setup this is probably not an issue. Also I doubt that an 8GB drive is a SATA drive.

Again Setup errors are almost always hardware problems.

Can you still boot into ME?

If so try to run the XP Upgrade Advisor:
