I bought a new USB2.0 hub, when I connect it to the computer using any USB port it does not recognize it. It says in the bottom right corner of the screen that the device has malfunctioned and that Windows does not recognize it, there is nothing wrong with the hub. Its a generic USB hub, why won't Windows recognize it? Thanks.

Did you connect a working USB device to the computer's USB port to verify the port is ok? Did you plug the hub into a completely separte USB port on that computer to see if problem still exists (i.e. if you used front USB port, try the one on the back of the computer if there is any)?. Do you have devices connected to the hub when pluging it in or just the hub by itself? Did you try the hub on another computer? When unpluging the hub, did you diable the USB port to avoid damages to the hub? If not, try those see what happens. Good Luck
