When I start up PC, I dont have my task bar just have a blank screen,

Have tried putting xp disk in PC to see If that will help but nothing

Can you open the start menu?

    Ctrl + Esc

From there Control Panel > Add or Remove programs > Remove the IE7 beta.

You can also try running sfc /scannow from start > Run...

Note the space between sfc and /scannow

You will be asked to insert your XP CD.

Thanks for the advice on trying to get pc going again,

Tried the Control + Esc, nothing happend

also tried the start button on keyboard & nothing as well

I think my system doesnt have a explorer application & this is why I only have a blank screen,

Cannot get into anything at all

I thought once the XP Installation Disk we put into drive, It would start XP Installation

    thanks

Is it a retail XP CD? Or who is the manufacturer?

You need to boot the CD. Do you know if your BIOS is set to boot the CD drive prior to the hard drive?

Right after you power on the computer press the Delete key. (most computers). Some use F2. Some F10 or F12.

This will take you to the BIOS Setup. Use the arrow keys to navigate. Go to Boot. Boot Order. Set the CD drive to boot prior to the HDD.
