working on my sisters computer

will not let her get past the homepage

you can use anything on the homepage

but when you try to goto websites (surf) you get an error message can't find server

she had about 10 different secrity programs on her computer

i removed them all and repalced it with avg all in one security

i ran and cleaned out about 380 items

avg is 8 months old version but i cant update it because of the web surfing issue.

i strongly believe this is virus related, and has something to do with the dns file which has been modified under system 32 files,

i tried move on boot program to repace it with a non modified dns file but operation failed.

also i matched internet options to my computer already

anyone have a suggestion

when you open up the homepage, click file (top left hand corner) and see if there's a check mark next to work offline, if there is highlight work offline with your mouse and click.

A Repair Install of XP might be the most expedient and complete fix at this point.
