I have a Memorex traveldrive that normally shows up as an F:\ drive. This morning, it disappeared and in its place is an E:\drive that has some .exe files in it, but no data from my F drive. Yet, I can open a file and 'save as' on the F:\ drive. I've removed the thumbdrive and replaced it numerous times, but can't find it under My Computer. All I can find now is the E:\drive, which doesn't have any of my saved data available.

Do you have another system where you can check to see if the thumbdrive is working? That would be a good checkup.

Have you tried connecting it onto different ports and see if it works as normal that way?

Do you use any software for creating Virtual Drives?

Do you have your motherboard USB drivers installed?

Do you recognize which drive those .exe files on your E:\ drive are from or if you download or placed them there?

What AV, firewall and anti-spyware are you running?
