dont know what ive done being total naieve bout pcs..but had norton security when that ran out had avant and now? xp automatically downloaded explorer 7.my pc wont let me restore to a previous date before this. when looking at the restore points i found an unsigned driver install and 3x motorola phone tools..but cant get my pc to restore at all. have deleted all antivirus things by mistake,cant get any downloads to get a new one.i can access net just not get anything to work....grrrr any advice would be most grateful thanks

IE7 was a Critical (Automatic Update) from Windows Update.

Are you thinking that this caused your problems?

There are many reasons that System Restore would fail.

What happens when you try to download?

What do you mean by you cannot get anything to work?

Are your problems new problems?

managed to uninstall explorer 7..
restored before the date that went on but still cant restore before 14th nov when the unsigned driver install and motorola phone tools thing went on
have managed to download AVG anti virus and its currently scanning pc for which its been doing for the past 2hours.so far it says theres 8 critcal threats to my pc
problems with logging on and windows keeps shutting down for no reason.keeps asking me send error report.which ive done but dont really understand it to work out what is wrong
when pc starts up a file dll. keeps appearing with a red x saying it cant be found.
still having problems downloading from sites though.
