Windows XP Error- Desk top
My computer will not let me click on any desk top icons except the internet icon. If I click on an icon it says: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Error signature AppName: explorer.exe Modver6.02900.2951
AppVer:6.02900.2180 Offset:0015fca2 ModName:shell32.dll
Does ANYONE know what the problem is AND how I can fix it. Please help. Thank you!
Also I just installed Norton Anti-Virus paid for it and everything and it has disappeared - I can't open it to re-install because I "can't click on any icons" LOL HELP PLEASE

Download this tool:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
Remove any red entries. Also any pink entries that might be related to Norton or Symantec.

Hey it saved!!! I have it open now, what do I do with it, there is ALOT of stuff on there????

ccCommon is a Norton file.
Norton is very troublesome software and it sounds like your install didn't go very well.
In the ShellX View remove any RED lines. Then remove any PINK lines that list Norton or Symantec.
You might want to try a System Restore to a point prior to installing Norton:
start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

I did try a system restore I first went back to December...didn't work...went back to November...didn't work....went back to October and it said I could not go back that far....
I do not see ANY red or pink lines in the ShellEXView and nothing Norton or the other Anti-virus program...
So what is next?

What is the exact version of Norton software that you installed?
