    Re: Slow web page access

    Hi Jephree

Finally got new XP Pro disk from supplier today.

Its and original disk with license etc.

Tried to do clean reinstall but as bfore problem as soon as i get to licence page where you have to press F8 to accept. i press F8 and once agin nothing happens. Cant see that its a disk problem this time.

Also have noticeed that there seems to be a lot of CPU usage when i open task manager to check usage etc. I have task manager open as I am typing this response and memory usage sems to go crazy at one ppoint it fluctuated between 44% to 55% it later settled down to about 4%. I have run task manager with only the windows desktop showing and no applications running and the same thing happens. Sometimes CPU usage goes up to 100% for no appranet reason. To be honest i am totally at a loss now to what the problem is.

    Regards

Install errors (assuming a good CD) are most likely hardware problems.

Could be heat. Here are two tools to download free:

    1) Speed Fan (to monitor your CPU temp)

    http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

    2) CPU Burn-in

    http://users.bigpond.net.au/cpuburn/

Open Speed Fan to monitor then run CPU Burn-in and see what your temps are like.

    Hi Jephree

Ran fan speed show fan1 running at approx 2722rpm
    data showed as Temp1 42c, Temp2 32c, Temp 3 54c, HD0 20C, Temp1 30c

Temp 1 had red up arrow at lefthand side, other had green arrows

When i ran CPU test Temp 1 temp started at 41c then averaged between 47c and 51c and a green tick appeared at the side to when it was at about 47c to 49c but when it hit 50c or above a flame figure appeared at the side.

CPU result showe that process ran OK I ran it for 90 mins.

I also ran program that i got with PC called Hot CPU Tester PRO I ran full diagnostic and it told me that it would take approx 7 hours to complete. i left it running while I was at work and when I got home it showed that 21 things tested had shown no errors for any of the tests

    Hi Jephree

Have ben using PC today to access web and ket speed fan running so that i could keep a check on fan speeds and CPU temp.

Fan speed seems to have gone mad from about 2700rpm yesterday to a range between 168,000 to 225,000. Thought it may be a problem with speedfan softare so closed it and reloaded a few times but still showing crazy speeds.

    Regards

    Hi John

I am reading your posts and pondering, but as of now, I have no new input.

Hopefully I will have more time tomorrow, and less noise that I've had to deal with today, to be more constructive.

Sorry for the delay in ideas.

Your temps are quite fine but the fan speed and CPU usage spikes are quite unusual.
