My PC is infected with something that makes it restart all the time.

I had Antivir installed and updated, but the virus killed it.

When Windows comes up, I can't use Antivir, I can't reinstall Antivir, and I can't install Macaffe. I just have tons of error messages. I can open a few folders, but I can't get any programs to run.

I can't reinstall XP as this computer was built from scratch, was a gift, and did not come with any discs.

Without a valid XP CD there is not much to do in the way of major repairs.

You can try starting in Safe Mode with Networking.

Thanks, I did get into Safe Mode, and I'm running Antivir from there. Hopefully I can clean my system from Safe Mode.

What does HijackThis do? How does posting logs help anyone? I'm happy enough to do it, I just don't know what it's about yet.

Posting your log in that section is the best thing you can do.

There are Professionals there that can guide you through a clean-up.

You should not try to do this without Professional help.
