win media player 10 vs DVD's

    Hi all,
been a while, glad to see most of you survived '06.
Problem: I've downloaded some movies to my computer and I want to put them on DVD's and recover the space they take up on my hard drive.
I have a Sony DVD burner/ROM, as well as a Lite On CD burner/rom....anyhow, they both read cd's and dvd's and one burns cd's and the other burns dvd's.
When I put the DVD+R in the burner, it keeps telling me to insert a writable disk. These are all brand new disks, just opened package. What am I doing wrong????????
    Help please.
Thank you all and Happy '07
    Beth

Have you ever burned a DVD on this computer?

What DVD burning software are you using?

What is the exact model of the DVD burner?

To see this look in the Device Manager: right click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager. Expand (click +) the DVD/CD-ROM line. This should show the exact model. There could be a compatibility issue with the type of DVD you are using depending on the burner in question.
